Rabbi Azarya Berzon, Scholar in Residence - Rav Azarya Berzon graduated Yeshiva University High School in 1970, and then went on to study in Eretz Yisrael for three years. He continued his learning for the next five years under the Rav, Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, z"tl. During those years he studied in the YU Kollel and received Smicha from RIETS in 1978. After studying for a year in the Yeshiva University Gruss Kollel, Rav Berzon taught for 13 years at Yeshivat Birchat Moshe in Maaleh Adumim and Yeshivat Shaalvim. Rav Berzon also served in the IDF. In 1991 he established Yeshiva Sha'arei Mevaseret Zion where he served as Rosh Yeshiva for 18 years. During the same period, he founded Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim, a ground-breaking institution that offered Advanced learning for women in all areas of talmud torah. Rav Berzon is acknowledged as one of the leading educators who utilize the Brisker Derech in his classes. He has written extensively on this path of learning and is currently completing a work on Maimonides.
